The following review of some of this weekend's top sporting action comes courtesy of our friends at Smarkets.
Rugby World Cup
传奇sfTonight the long awaited Rugby World Cup gets underway at Twickenham with England facing Fiji in the opening game of the tournament. Rugby fans the world over will be keen to see who will come out of this tournament victorious with New Zealand currently installed as heavy favourites. The All Blacks will be looking to win their third World Cup title after winning it on home soil back in 2011, but England will attempt to spoil their party and take full advantage of the backing of the home support.
Many supporters will be feasting their eyes on the opener to make their first judgements of how Stuart Lancaster's men will fare, although Fiji may not be a real challenge. England has won all 5 encounters with Fiji and only a huge shock would prevent them making it 6 from 6.
The Premier League kicks off on Saturday with a London derby! Arsenal showed a shocking display midweek against Dinamo Zagreb which saw them lose 2-1, whereas Chelsea finally bounced back to winning ways against Tel-Aviv. The Blues will be hoping that Eden Hazard reaches last year's form after failing to perform on several occasions this season, including a skied penalty on Wednesday.
There are plenty more Premier League games to look forward to such as top of the table Manchester City against the in form West Ham and Southampton hosting Manchester United. Youngster Anthony Martial will be looking to build on his wonder debut last week after coming back down to earth in the week.
Smarkets will continue with the 0% commission on all QPR games when the Londoners travel north to Hull. Both teams will be aiming for promotion after getting relegated last season! The Rs will be looking for a win against Hull after a late equaliser on Wednesday against Blackburn. Gaffer Chris Ramsey seems confident that his side has what it takes to improve especially after their second half display against Blackburn.
传奇sfLewis Hamilton has been looking comfortable so far this season with neither of the two Germans Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel able to seriously challenge him. Nevertheless, there has been plenty of drama and excitement and that is sure to continue as the drivers head to the streets and lights of Singapore.
Despite prevailing strong smog in the Asian city-state, the organizers of the race are confident that the race will take place this weekend. Slash and burn on the nearby island Sumatra had caused an acrid smoke, which has moved on to Singapore putting a dense smog over the city.
